Forest Hills is a nice, quiet, safe suburb of Pittsburgh with easy access to Pittsburgh via 376 and public transportation. I can go from home to my office downtown in less than 25 minutes via bus / 20 minutes via car. Same to be said for access to cultural and entertainment options (Heinz Field, PNC Park, PPG Paints Arena, Cultural District, etc.). Residents take good care of their homes. What keeps Forest Hills from a 5 star rating in my opinion are that it needs to develop its retail and dining options, and the local school system is not that great. We send our child to a charter school in Pittsburgh. I think this town has excellent potential overall.
Neighbors are not friendly towards colored people. Well at least the residents that live near greensburg pike, that's like the top of forest hills. People that live near the stores and close to the forest hills park and braddock hills are more friendly i picked up on. They live in the lower parts. The Forest hills police on the other hand are very biased towards people of color and because of that 2 stars.
Great neighborhood for a first home! Close to so much in the city and easy access to 376. Love the friendly neighbors!
