Floyd is truly a magical place to visit and every it of the hype you see in magazines is true. We have a thriving local gourmet food scene with multiple Good Food Award winners, there are plenty of great restaurants, the weekend music scene features the best of old time and modern regional dance bands. The air and water are clean and you really can live life pretty undisturbed. The price you pay is low wages, high poverty, schools that do not prepare your kids for competitive college environments, slow internet, and limited choices in utilities, shopping, and cultural activities. That said, we have awesome festivals- FloydFest is a roots music extravaganza, YogaJam is pure yoga bliss along a delightful creek, and the Chantilly Bluegrass Festival is fast becoming known as one of the best in the region.

Lived here most of my life. Love the atmosphere, the friendliness and the culture. Everyone knows everyone.
I love Floyd because it is uniquely itself. You can be a farmer, an environmentalist, an artist, a vagabond, or anything you want and there is always a place for you.
