Most of Flower Mound lives in constant fear of everything and everyone. These are the kind of people that will call the cops if you knock on their door at 8 pm and take their gun trick or treating. They are very wary of new people too and prefer to only socialize within their cliques. Unless you’re just the right breed of white and suburban, you won’t make friends too quickly. They’re also all picky eaters. Not kidding. So if you were wondering why all the restaurants are either McDonald’s, chili's, Chick-fil-A, or Sonic, there’s your answer. If you are looking to move to the DFW area there are plenty of nice places that aren’t Flower Mound. Plano and Coppell are my top picks but I’m sure most towns in North Texas are better.
Flower Mound is a very nice and well established town. I’m definitely grateful to have grown up in a community similar to this one. There are a plethora of people in every age group, plenty of ways to entertain yourself, and thousands of different places to eat within 5-20 minutes of your home. Most everyone here is extremely friendly and easy going. One of my most favorite things about it is that it is well established and has a lot to do, yet it’s filled with greenery and I would consider it to be a very peaceful and somewhat beautiful area. It even has a lake!
Overall, Flower Mound is a really good suburb. It's very safe and family friendly, but it does have a strong lack of diversity and is losing its small town charm. The real estate developments that have been taking place for the last few years are eating up all the green space and contributing to a culture of overpopulation. The roads are becoming more congested, yet there's still a lot of vacant retail spaces that I feel should be filled before new business developments are started.
If I had one suggestion to make Flower Mound better, I would recommend slowing down the growth. The population is getting very high, yet business and amenities are still on the low end--with not a lot of diversity in services offered and lots of empty spaces.
