Having lived in Florence, AZ a relatively long time of 24 years, we have seen much happen here, largely for the better despite the encroachment of new housing developments. Florence, being a county seat town, home to the state prison, private prisons, a copper mine, etc. offers fairly decent employment. The town is inundated each winter with winter visitors who flee in April yet boost the economy. Several retirees call Florence home now, many of whom, are "snowbirds." The town endorses childrens sports, town events, parades on old Main Street, etc., and is an ideallic town to raise a family. Bill/Linda

First of all, it is a very small town and old towns. It doesn't help that it can be very spread out. There aren't many things conveniently around. The schools don't have as many kids as a city would. However, it takes just as long because of how spread out everything is. There is a certain water company that is always having problems. The water isn't very clean. Something is always wrong with it. Their area some unsafe parts of town like there is everywhere. There are plenty of dust storms because of all the farmland, which helps with the nauseating smell that permeates the air.
I've lived in Florence for the past year, it's a decent place to raise a family with decent rent prices as well. Roads and rain drains are not great though and I have been flooded. Schools are decent but the schools in Arizona in general aren't the greatest. The commute to the major city isn't ideal, it's long and the road needs to be widened.
