My husband and I moved to Fairport from Canandaigua about a year ago. Neither of us grew up in the Rochester area so we did our research before house hunting. Our decision to purchase a home in Fairport was largely based on the school system, family-friendly atmosphere and the accessibility of major highways, shopping centers, doctors' offices, etc. So far, we have nothing but positive experiences in Fairport. The Village itself has several great restaurants and shops. The Fairport Canal Days and the Fairport Music Festival are great community activities as well. Outdoor activities along the canal and/or the many hiking/biking trails are incredible. In addition to the Perinton Rec Center, almost every subdivision has their own pool community for families to enjoy. Overall, we are very pleased with our decision and look forward to watching our family grow in such a great place.

Fairport is a great community! My favorite thing about Fairport is Canal Days. Canal Days is an arts festival that happens in early June every year. The whole town comes together in the Village for a few days. Tents line the streets where people sell their art and food. There's live music and the food is amazing.
I love being a part of the Fairport Community. It is a small village on the Erie Canal within the Town of Perinton. It has a big Community Center that provides classes from cooking to karate, as well as basketball courts, a pool/indoor water play area, and an indoor gym with all of the equipment that many commercial gyms have. There are a lot of bike and hiking trails within Perinton. It is close to downtown Rochester, and right off I-90 for easy access to other parts of the state. As a high school senior, I have made life-long friends and enjoyed many school and community activities. Canal Days is a big arts and crafts show in June, and August has the Fairport Food and Music Festival. These are very popular events for all ages where you will be sure to run into many friends. There is a lot of school pride and sense of community. It is a great place to live!
