Fairlawn is one of the best places I've lived. It is a very well kept area, people take good care of their lawns and the roads are in good condition. The atmosphere is a peaceful one, yet it is extremely convenient to a wide variety of shopping and restaurants. The city services are fantastic! Our neighborhood side street is plowed by 5:00AM when it we experience a heavy snowfall. The police force is courteous and helpful, and they do a great job of patrolling. I used to live in West Akron and the city services were practically non existent. The snow had to melt off of the street, regardless how much accumulation there was, the police would only come right away of there was a gang related problem, otherwise they would come assist you in two hours. The panhandlers would harass you at practically every intersection.

Fairlawn, to the contrary, has a very good city government where reason prevails and the police genuinely want to help people. I believe this area will remain vital and vibrant for years to come!

WE have lived in Fairlawn for the last two years and we love it!!! Best location in Cleveland and Akron. Central to everything in Cleveland and akron. Clean, safe, friendly, and economical. Best police, firefighters, schools, and all around city service. I have lived in Cleveland, Lakewood, Avon, and Toledo, Ohio. I have also lived in San Francisco and Montgomery county Maryland. But, this city has been my family’s favorite.
There isn't really much to do around here. If you're looking for a lot of fun places to go or cute places to take pictures, you'll have to go to either Cleveland or Akron. There's a decent amount of places to eat. There's a lot of fast food places and some sit down restaurants as well. The neighborhoods are nice and safe. If you're looking for a place with a lot of racial diversity you wont find it here. The majority of people here are caucasian and people tend to be more conservative.
