So disappointed! After living within the city of Cincinnati for years, my husband and I (both black), thought we'd finally found our forever home.
We took the plunge and purchased a lovely home.
Our area is tucked away in a park-like subdivision area.
We noticed and felt discomfort from Day 1! That old-familiar feeling, that's hard to describe in words, unless you've felt it before.
Neighbors cold and distant, would stare when we were doing yard work, or just sitting on our deck...
There also seem to be no city officials of color, and the schools are hardly what I call diverse.
It's a very beautiful little town, filled with parks, ponds and lakes. It's very quiet day and night. Actually, at times it's sort of eerily quiet.
There are a few families of color in our subdivision, but mostly East Asian. Very distant also. Some darker than me. Go figure!
Enough is enough! We are now back to looking for our forever-home...and definitely not in Fairfield, Ohio. We seek diversity!

Overall, Fairfield seems like a nice suburb to live in. The schools appear nice since most of them were recently fixed up and you are surrounded by convenience. However, it is not a minority-friendly area at all. There is limited diversity (diversity in some schools, not so much in work places such as police stations, city buildings). Fairfield Police Department has a history of racist behavior and apparently this continues.
The school district has a terrible history of bullying and sexual assaults. They state that they do not tolerate bullying, but this is not true. Bullying may be frowned upon, but there is no action taken which has previously led to students committing suicide. The sexual assault cases by staff to students are disturbing.
2 stars out of 5 because of the potential this community has. I would rate 5 out of 5 if there was more diversity and fair treatment from Fairfield Police Department and well as actions behind students being bullied on a daily basis.

Fairfield is a relatively safe area with affordable housing when compared to other suburbs of Cincinnati. My favorite restaurants and stores are all within a 20 minute drive. Jungle Jims is always fun to visit with all of the international food selections. There are also several South Asian and African markets to go to for ingredients that are not available at Walmart or Kroger.
