I lived in Evansville for 25 years. Cost of living is reasonable, although utility costs have been soaring. Air quality is frequently poor (related to those fossil-based power plants), and has contributed to Evansville being rated poorly on national health indexes (including for respiratory issues and cancer). There is a decent selection of restaurants, but that's about all there is to do in Evansville. I can't fathom where the A- rating for night life is, given there is almost nothing to do. Not much in the way of art or culture, at least not public. If you don't like the atmosphere in bars, you better like sitting at home.
Coming from a city like St. Louis there is not as much to do in Evansville, however the people are very kind and has a very southern feeling to it. The city can be very beautiful and fun little pockets for young college students mixed in. I have made lots of memories here and it is easy to get to bigger cities for a day trip!
I love how everything feels homey. Comforting in certain areas. Plenty to do of course! I do wish all of evansville was great and safe for everyone, but that unfortunately isn't true. Besides this, Evansville is a beautiful city to live in.
