Evans Mills Reviews
The area is mostly family oriented. There is a shopping area that contains Walmart, nail salon,Verizon, Dollar Tree, and a variety of restaurants/ fast food. The surrounding apartments are affordable and spacious. Each housing complex has playgrounds, swimming pools, and a recreational gym facility. If you are single, many of the apartment complexes have one bedroom or studio accommodations at an affordable price.
Evan's Mills is just a small town on the outskirts of Ft. Drum where my husband is currently Active Duty in the U.S. Army. The town has it's necessities, i.e, a walmart, schools, grocery, emergency room, library, parks. Other than what it needs to stay alive, the town doesn't offer much else. The military community in which we rely heavily on the town for our needs, would live to see more family oriented facilities. In the winters we have no where to take our kids, the closest enjoyment is 20 mins into the city of Watertown and the drive when weather is bad isn't worth the one kid friendly area at our local mall. There are a ton of run down homes and businesses, and plenty of opportunities begging to thrive.
I have lived in Evans Mills for the last 13 years and grew up there. I attended the Indian River School District which is very close to the area. I think Evans Mills has been an excellent place to grow up. The local school district is safe, and has great teachers and an excellent sports program. As for opportunities for work Evans Mills has a few local businesses but is also close to Watertown offering more job opportunities. The village also has a rich history of which you can find more about at the local library. You can also get food and gas at the Stewart's in the middle of town, and has a nice scenic waterfall nearby.
