- Town in Tennessee

i think Etowah needs new officials. The city officials need to work on the roads, get new jobs, spruce up the city. Etowah looks very run down.
I am very glad I have been born and raised in this great little town. Great home town. Love my little town. We have great nearby outdoor adventures. Our people of the community reinvest and are helping the community grow. Definitely the home feeling and everyone knows everyone feeling.
Etowah is small town living. It's a very close knit community. I rarely go anywhere that I don't see someone I know. We have a lot of family friendly events throughout the year. It's very church oriented. If you want a little more shopping or culture/fun, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Maryville are all within an hours drive.
Etowah is a small town. The environment is pretty and so is the weather, but there is not a lot. There is only a few restaurants and stores in town. There is not much to have fun with except the family events the town has, mostly during the summer. Most of the events are centered around the L&N Historical Depot right on the highway. Trains usually don't stop there, but the museum offers train tours. The town is very safe as it has no crime, except a few robberies, but the emergency response team is not very responsive. There is two elementary school in town and one high school right out of town. All of which are smaller schools and are pretty decent. There is hardy any diversity, most people are white Christians. There are minority groups around town though, they are just defiantly the minority. The town is very rural, so you defiantly need a car to get places, especially if your job is out of town, which it most likely is. There is not much job opportunity in Etowah.
I love Etowah. It is a very small town with mountains, rivers, hiking trails, and all kinds of outdoor activities to explore. The things I would like to see changed, is to try and expand slightly or at least get a few more things to do. Living here for 18 years eventually can get a little boring because you've done everything there is to do without traveling a little bit. It is a great quaint mountain town, though.
