We live here. Estero is growing rapidly and an alternative to Naples. Majority of folks are middle to upper middle class baby boomers. Many are coming out of Midwest states splurging on winter residences or moving here fulltime. The price of real estate is rapidly escalating and cost of living is relatively higher than other parts of the country unless your coming out of California or the Northeast.
Cultural diversity is sorely lacking here but fortunately for those who value it, will find plenty of it next door in Bonita Spring and Fort Myers, with plenty of different restaurants. Likewise, art and culture can be found in Naples.
Overall Estero, is a safe, growing town with plenty of amenities, retail shopping, a large university, and an arena. Its a bedroom community, but thats about it.

Estero is a community that encompasses a middle-aged to older population. There is a great share of elderly couples who have retired in the area and utilize the many golf courses, but Estero is also family-oriented and you might often run into families with children as they raise their kids in the area. Additionally, Florida Gulf Coast University supplies a younger crowd into the mix and is located a short distance from the center of the town. Estero is a very safe community with nice homes and friendly people. The price of homes is higher than average for Florida, but many residents are successful professionals with higher education so this is to be expected. I would recommend Estero to middle/older age individuals or families that are looking to slow down and settle into the Florida suburban lifestyle.
Love growing up in Estero. It has become very crowded with people moving here, but nonetheless I still love it!
