I have lived in enumclaw for many years on and off, and when we moved back we where delighted! Over the last 6 months our apartments went from a quiet, well taken care of area where I felt genuinely safe walking around at night, to a falling down dump. They "re-painted" and now all the apartments are shades of yellow, there a drug issues everywhere, people just dump there garbage wherever, and crime has taken a sharp uptick. I used to love getting to know neighbors, walking into town. If your considering moving to enumclaw, you better buy your own land and put a fence around it or you will be sorely disappointed. I really do miss my little town-
I love Enumclaw! Growing up in a small town has made me enjoy and love every little thing in this town. The people are amazing and the friendships you build are unique. Whenever you see someone at a store or gas station you most likely know them or they know your parents, you get called by your last name all the time, and downtown feels magical at night. One thing that I wish Enumclaw wouldn't do is build more houses. Enumclaw is a beautiful country town. Driving past all the fields at sunset and seeing cows, horses, goats in the pastures make you love this town even more. Building more houses takes away this feeling and takes away the fields.
It’s great here! But as a transgender and bisexual teen, sometimes I don’t feel safe. Most people are accepting, but there’s still a lot of homophobic and transphobic people. I don’t see much racism in school, so that’s great! Other than that, there are a lot of houses being built (especially around where I live) so Enumclaw could possibly be turning into a larger city soon.
