Englewood Reviews

As a resident of Englewood and a Mom I will tell you Englewood is great for the beach for biking for safety. BUT the kids are not welcoming, there is not much to do unless you frequents bars. There is virtually zero diversity. Locals are stand offish. It is a very lonely place unless you aggressively seek out a group of friends. Jobs are in outdoor labor or restaurants. If you are a senior, or bar type you are in luck. No major shopping except for Bealls Walmart or Publix. But thrift shops are nice. If you are under 65 it isn't the best place to move.
Englewood is a very isolated town in Florida. The majority of the population is retired and only lives here part of the year. The rest are mostly made up of people that grew up here. The town is not very diverse with mostly everyone being white and most of the time it is pretty small with the stores on the main road closing at 8:00 pm. It is largely made up with people of the middle class. The town south of us is very wealthy and the town northeast of us is very poor. The town is on the beach, but the past few years there has been red tide so no one really goes to the beach anymore which has drained our economy.
I have lived here my whole life and I love this town! The beaches are beautiful and I know almost everyone here. The schools are good and there are a few little parks. It’s a very safe place to live and I have never felt unsafe here, even getting out of work at 10pm and walking to my car doesn’t worry me. The downside is that during season the town is overrun with snowbirds and the traffic is horrendous. There is not much to do unless you are 65+ (which most the population is). The town is growing though and being taken over by retirees, it’s kind of sad to see my hometown change so much.
