If you want to pay through the nose for water move here. If not, run fast. I just learned that I pay for the water I use quarterly and in talking with the sewer department I pay for my water consumption AGAIN through them quarterly! so if you have a pool or want a nice lawn you better take a loan. I have had a water bill of almost $500 for a quarter (that I can swallow as I have a pool and watered my lawn daily. Just received a sweet bill, another $500. I call to find out why....you pay for water usage AGAIN through them. This does not seem right to me. Ya I understand I can put a "deduct meter" in, however, I have to buy the meter and pay for a plumber to install it myself. I could possibly do this but I am broke after paying almost $1,000 between water and sewer. I would NOT recommend the Town of Enfield for living
There isn't much to do in town but it is still a nice place to live. The neighborhoods are usually really good, the people are nice. There isn't much crime that we hear about. It is a pretty quiet town and the schools are nice.
I like that its small and everyone is close to each other and everyone in town is friendly. There are lots of places to go hiking or walking, lots of restaurants to eat at. There is a large amount of churches of various denominations to choose from. It’s also near the Massachusetts boarder which also lies close to the MGM casino. There is a dog park for those who need one. Another key point is we have a DMV in town which is convenient. One of the things that really is a key point for me living in Enfield is the wonderful police department, I feel so safe living here. Other things that make Enfield a great place is that there are multiple parks and play areas for family’s and their kids and one of the best is at the public library!
there is a major lack of diversity, all white and republican (for the most part). schools are okay neighbors are not the most friendly but if you mind your own you are all right. Not much to do in town or in surrounding towns.
I first lived in Enfield around 2005, when I was just 9-years-old. I remember living just outside the central part of the town, where there were many stores, restaurants, and attractions. I remember feeling comfortable enough to run around and play outside, which was not always possible in my previous neighborhood. I also had a neighbor who my siblings and I became friends with almost instantly and the bond lasted until we moved after 3 years. My family and I moved back just last April and it felt like Enfield didn't skip a beat. It felt very familiar even though we did not move back to the same part of town. Although a few of the attractions and stores I remember from my childhood are no longer around, I can finally explore the town myself as an adult and make new memories.
There are many events throughout the year where you could get involved in the community. We have annual events at our town hall and churches. Although, there aren't many places you can go when you are looking for something to do like shopping.
The wide array of grocery options that are available is definitely a plus. However, I wish there were more recreational activity opportunities.
Ill be honest, Enfield isn’t the most wonderful place to live. It’s pretty boring, It’s hard to get to places without a car, the police are terrible, and its also very expensive. Enfield is a place for people with a medium family and big income. The schools are decent. Some of the most wonderful people are my school friends and teachers. The bad thing about the schools in Enfield are usual the princelpes, vice principies, and guidance consulares, and security/police are terrible at there jobs. Speaking from personal experience and the horror stories that float around us students in the system.
I moved to Enfield 8 years ago and I love it here! It's a very quiet town, very active community and scenic. Enfield has affordable housing; have fantastic public schools many students graduate and attend Ivy-league colleges. Easy access to I-91, Route 5, Bradley International Airport and two great medical systems in Springfield and Hartford. Several places of worship, high quality restaurants, and available banking. Fantastic public works and municipal operations especially after snowstorm clean-up. The town organizes for a small fee, yoga classes, learn to cook Italian food or take ballroom dance lessons, etc. at local schools in the evenings. A very active Senior Center, daily events and activities and organizing day-trips for attendees. 4th of July Festival with an annual Parade and Fireworks display.
I like how peaceful and quiet this small town is. Transportation is fairly easy to get by. The view is stunning all year round with the trees and fields. However, I do hope the town will renovate or add more stores to the Enfield Square Mall.
Enfield is a nice little town. A decent amount to do, close to big malls such as buckland and Holyoke malls.
Plenty of businesses, restaurants, and retailers. Not much else in terms of looking for something fun to do
Lovely little town, very quiet but very lively at the same time. It’s a very close knit community between neighbors.
The town itself is very boring there is nothing much to do. If you're looking for things to do that is the mall but it does not have much and the surrounding areas don't have much to offer. The school systems in town aren't the best but they also aren't the worst. The time does provide a lot of places to dine out at so you should never go hungry. The area has its ups and downs in terms of safety. I would recommend this town to be a place to live in for only a couple of years nothing long-term unless you're not looking for much.
Enfield was a good place to grow up, however, I would like to move out of Enfield after college and start a life and family in another town or state
In Enfield, most people know each other. Sometimes it's a good thing, but majority of the time it's not. There is a huge drug problem in this town leading to many over doses. Violence is also a huge thing here, we recently had a high school teen stabbed to death during a fight. Not to mention prejudices people face for being a certain way.
Enfield is an okay place to live. There is not a whole lot of fun things to do as a young adult. However, there are a lot of shopping areas you can find. Rent is a little high, however.
