When many people hear about Elmira, they often connect it to a lot of drugs and trouble. Although this is very true, luckily I live in a good part of Elmira, away from all of these negatives. Where I live, we are on a huge hill with maybe thirty houses at most. The trees and views are absolutely beautiful! I am very happy to live where I do as there is not a lot of people, traffic, or noise. I am more of a country type person and could never live in a city after growing up here in this part of Elmira. The school I went to was very good, and very small which I loved.

Great friends and neighbors from this town. Small businesses create a close community where everyone knows each other and help is never hard to come by. Job opportunities are great for the size of the town and neighborhoods can be great for families. Downtown area has grown in recent years to try and bring back more business to Elmira itself from the surrounding areas. Within a two hour drive from cities of Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, and Binghamton where even more specialized resources reside.
This town is very boring and there is not much to do. This dilemma has a serious impact on the kids growing up there. Since the kids have no where to go they often stay home where in certain parts of the town there are many serious drugs. There has also been problems with the cleanliness of the town. The town often has garbage in the streets and on the side of the road. As people are driving down the street trying to aimlessly avoid the plastic bags floating around, people are just walking in the road as they please like they own the road. Overall Elmira does not have much for kids to do, is uncleanly and has a huge influence of drugs.
