Working in Elko
Elko is for people who would rather be in a small town, rather than a big city, but still want things to do without having to drive to a different town to do it. It could work on building more places for teens to have fun, as there is more stuff to do for adults and small children, not so much that middle area. In the last few recent years, Elko has expanded a lot and has welcomed more and more businesses. Elko, and Nevada in general, is a great place for outdoorsy people to move, especially if you are into hunting, but also a good place for those introverts too!
Elko is in a beautiful area with the Ruby Mountains and lots of recreational opportunities but there is very little in this community for families and especially teens besides school and sports. There needs to be an influx of family opportunities or they go elsewhere to Utah, Idaho or across the state. Businesses complain that money is leaving our community but they have not solved the problems that I have seen here for the past 13 years.
Elko is an amazing place. The culture, the cowboys, and the friendly community all make it a great place to live. The selections of restaurants are not too bad, but there are many great places such as The Star and Toki Ona, which are excellent places to eat. Although the housing in elko is expensive, not far outside of Elko there are much cheaper options. Overall, Elko is a friendly place where you feel like you know everybody.
