Elko is a secluded small town where one can enjoy quiet living. Salt Lake is the nearest city being around three hours by car. Being as quiet as it is, for young people, public education is not optimal. For young adults, job opportunities are low. And for the elderly, healthcare standards are minimal due to little urgency and accessibility. Good things about Elko include emphasis on physical activity, a sense of community, and peaceful living. Nevertheless, it is still somewhere that I do not recommend obtaining permanent residence.

I have lived in Elko, Nevada my entire life. I attended public school and never had any problems. I also went to Great Basin College here in Elko and obtained both my Associate's and Bachelor's degrees there. Living in rural Nevada has it's challenges such as limited resources but there is a strong sense of community here. The community is very good about coming together when there is a problem to help each other out.
I love my home community and have an abundant life here! The Ruby Mountains are so close and such a wonderful place to explore during all seasons. The rural feel still exists, but there are plenty of local amenities to meet various needs.
