The best kept secret in North Carolina, Elkin has great schools, medical facilities, a pedestrian friendly historic downtown with a newly renovated live music venue in a historic theater, beautiful trails and parks, has 5 wineries and 2 microbreweries, lots of places to eat, has a great farmers market every Saturday morning during warm months and supports local farmers, lots of community pride and is very safe. I have no idea where they got their crime stats from, but they are definitely wrong. This a great place to raise a family or retire.

This is the town that I grew up in and had such memorable times with friends and family. It's a small town, but warm and welcoming. The people are friendly and there are great eating places near by. I would love to see this small town expand some day into some place that everyone knows about.
Elkin is a very rural town just 45 minutes away from Winston Salem. It is a pretty area but not very diverse. If you like the family feel and friendly people you will like it here!
