Elk Grove Village Reviews
Elk Grove is a nice suburban community. Its school system is highly ranked and it is affordable. It is a safe community that is home to the largest industrial park in the United States. This provides many job opportunities for the village's civilians. However, it does not have much nightlife since it is a more family-focused village. It does in return have a variety of certain mom's and pop's food spots that are both tasty and unique to the area. Elk Grove really is the exceptional community. The village has many different activities that are available. There is Busse Woods that is readily available for anyone looking for an escape into nature. There is also a bowling alley, a movie theatre, and top golf very close by for anyone looking for more of an enclosed recreation.
I grew up here and returned here. It is one of the most central locations to anywhere in the Chicago area. Crime is super low. Neighbors are friendly. Schools are among the best in the state. Elk Grove Village shares Schaumburg library, one of the best in the state. Lots of parks and Forest Preserves for outdoor hiking/biking/walking. The park district offers tons of amenities. Close to shopping for almost any store you could think of. Great restaurants! A 4 star comedy club at Woodfield. Nightlife is SUBURBAN, not urban so that means local bars for music but little in the way of "clubs." Downside is high cook county taxes & state of IL finances, so it is one area that hasn't rebounded to pre 2008 real estate values. The weather has been phenomenal this year with a mild winter and cool summer due to climate change- but in general it is hot and humid in the summer, freezing below zero with sleet and snow in the winter most of my life.
I love that Elk Grove Village is a lively suburb with plenty of green spaces, quality homes and shopping all very close, yet it has a medium/small town feel. People are friendly and you have some of your local favorite spots like any typical small town, but you are also close to many modern conveniences such as Woodfield Mall with almost all of the major stores. Basically you can have a quiet home and neighborhood with 10 minute drive to anything you need. I know it is not small compared to some farm towns, but it is a quality Chicago suburb only about 45 minutes away from one of the greatest cities in the world as well. To me, it could not get much better than that.
