My family and I moved to Elgin my sophomore year of high school and although we live in the suburbs it is a town that I am proud to call home now. The people are friendly and it feels safe, and there are many different neighborhoods to live in, or houses on large acres of land to enjoy. People are always watching out for one another. It is a fast developing area, so that may be the only thing I would change because there is a lot of construction, but overall a great place to be and live.
Elgin is a nice and quiet town right outside of Columbia, SC. I love the sense of community and also the benefits of living right outside of the capital. The summers are beautiful and the winters are mild. It also has great proximity to the ocean, which is only a couple hours away!
Small town with homes spread out but close to a big city. Most homes have plenty of land so you do not feel like you are living right on top of each other. Driving distance to the local beaches and mountains. Local high school is alright.
