El Centro Reviews
Rating 3.21 out of 5 126 reviews
Growing up in El Centro there was nothing to do I mean we had barely gotten a mall in 2008. That was very exciting for the people here because if we wanted to shop, we had to travel to San Diego or go to Yuma. Can you imagine that? However, we are growing little by little which is nice. As I grow older El Centro is a really nice place to raise a family. It's quiet, everyone knows everyone, and as mentioned it is growing. Besides the weather in the summer, I say El Centro is a great place.
The air quality if F tier. About 15% of the children born in el centro have asthma or another lung afflicting illness. The high contents of metals in our water contributes to autism. The traffic between here and mexico ensures that every job is taken up by someone twice your age who is related to the people who hired him. In order to get a job in El Centro you need to know people and pray that the blessings of nepotism will shine over you. Living here is hell. There is homeless everywhere, and only half of the county speaks english. When you do not know spanish you are treated like a second class citizen. It's very evident an Us vs Them mentality with those that come from mexico which isn't mutual at all with the american residents. The state of affiars for El centro has reached this point to prop up the lucrative farming industry here. Whatever it takes to ensure labor is cheap and consumer products continue to move in and out of the agriculture sector. Also it's extremely hot here.
I'm a student in El Centro, 17 years old and I have lived here since I was born. El Centro is a very safe place to live in. Very calm and nothing bad happens here. Job opportunity is very low though, El Centro has the one of the highest unemployment rates in the U.S. The quality of the air is also poor because of the agriculture. Not only that but it is very hot. Temperatures go up to 120. To live in El Centro is in the cheaper side of living in California. Only around 2 hours away from San Diego and 3 hours from Los Angeles.
