Edwardsville is a small town about 30 minutes east of St. Louis. While some consider it a "suburb" of this big city, Edwardsville is becoming more well known as a wonderful town to raise a family. I spent most of my life living in Edwardsville/Glen Carbon and it was the best place I think I could've grown up in. The public high school- Edwardsville High School- has some of the best academics and athletics in Illinois, and the best in the area. Since it is so close to St.Louis, even though the night life in Edwardsville itself isn't the best, a major city is so close that if you wanted to spend a night out it's easy to do so. Edwardsville is also extremely safe, I lived there for 16 years and I was never scared to walk around by myself or with friends.
Cute college town with great restaurants and outdoor activities including miles of bike trails. There are also great libraries, pools and local shops to be visited. The university is the heart and soul of this growing town. Only miles from St. Louis there is so much the area has to offer. The weather in Edwardsville is every changing with each new season bringing an exciting variation to the available activities, views and local produce. The spring time brings forth the famous mushroom hunt, summer awakens the streams and lake visits. By fall families are ready for pumpkin and apple picking. In the winter the town offers ice skating and beautiful holiday decorations with locally grown Christmas trees for sale. Edwardsville is charming and has something for everyone.
