Edgewood is considered "the country" or "the other side of the mountain" to people who live in Albuquerque. It is a relatively small town. In 2016 there were almost 4000 people who lived there. You will almost never see all of these people at once. They typically stay to themselves. There are two grocery stores and a few places to eat. I would say that it is enough to get by. There are two real beauties to living in Edgewood. The first is the actual natural beauty all around. There are some trees, beautiful mountains, and awe inspiring sunsets. The second is its proximity to Albuquerque. You can live in a small town but be in a big city in 20-30 minutes. People may complain about that commute, but it is not a lot of traffic. Compared to living on the westside of Albuquerque and commuting into the heart of the city, the drive from Edgewood is a piece of cake.
Small town, friendly people, good schools, beautiful views. Lots of medical care options: regional medical facility, dentists, physical therapy, chiropractic, alternative wellness, and veterinarians for our animal-loving community. New hotel. Hiking and horse trails. Soccer field hosts sports year-round, Celtic Fest, art festivals and music/car events. Wildlife nature park, fly-in/out residential airpark, and premiere shooting sports facilities. Mom & Pop shops/restaurants nicely balance chain stores. Just 25 min to ABQ/60 min to SF.
Very friendly, a local restaurant or two that is worth visiting. Needs more entertainment options. The police department are very involved in the community and very friendly. Everyone helps everyone. Middle aged community.
