I like the fact that East St. Louis is a close knit community. Over the years East St.Louis has received a bad reputation based off of the crime and the poverty. But the East St. Louis that I know is a fun and loving city. We're a city of champions. We're a city of survivors. And from the outside looking in, it can look negative but on the inside looking out it's a gumbo of both. Overall, I'm proud of my city. Day by day we're getting better and we'll continue to do so because that's what champions do!

Well growing up in East Saint Louis was and is not easy as a child. We had run down schools, cheating politics, and a lot of people in the city lying and cheating the government, and we still do. As a child and teenager growing up in these conditions you would think that the environment would rub off on me, yet it made me stronger.
I try my best to show that not all bad come from East Saint Louis. I maintained a 3.8 with A’s and B’s while I was in High School, I was brought up that C’s and D’s are never an option. Academically I am strong and eager to put my best foot forward and try and try until I achieve the success I want to have.

East St. Louis may be a city that has a bad reputation, but it helps the students here manage life better and help us dream for change more than those may expect. I am proud to be from East St. Louis because now I have the ability to face the world head on with all of me.
I am from East Boogie. Lol, that is what most older people called it. I missed going home, and after 14 years I returned to buried my oldest brother. I see houses burned and abandoned, I also see people that are living lives better and happier than those in cities with leas crime least poverty. It's not the city that makes the people, but the people that make the city. I'm ready to move home, around my family. Poor yes it is. Can't a person make it? Yea I believe they can. I tell you one thing, you will learn the survival of life in one living. I will be moving home to East St. Louis from Virginia Beach in a few months. Hell, I don't have much living here coat of living high and I am surviving. East Boogie here I come.
