The area is most of the time peaceful. I grew up in this city so I would definitely choose to live here all over again. In certain parts, such as the low-income housing sections, the crime rate is somewhat high compared to the rest of the country. On the other hand, the surrounding areas are filled with beautiful parks, great restaurants, and numerous fun-filled establishments for kids and adults. The downtown area is consumed by a division one medical school Virginia Commonwealth University which is really helping our city grow. This rising school has brought a variety of educated people to this one area. VCU is the reason I see great future for Richmond because they are already building and expanding. Even the Washington Redskins train here now. Great things are arising for my city, maybe we might even have our own professional football and basketball team one day.
Ive been living in this area all of my life, growing up I slowly by surely began to see the world change around me. From the ages 15 - 18 , it wasn't the best. Between the crimes, environment, and economy .I believe the world is going to be much harder for me and my generation to build a strong foundation to raise our own families. With that being said , I would do it over simply because if I didn't have these hardships and the disappointment in my life, I wouldnt have this state of mind to want to change my community; world. Alot of people don't understand that if you give the best effort in changing you home , that could change your community, in turn that could change your city, which can change your state hopefully changing the world.
The employment in my area is very slim. Most of the jobs are retail in the fast food market. There are several top employers and companies such as a county public school system . Most of the people in our area make a living by either working in the school system, fast food industry.
