If you live here, expect to drive at least 20 minutes to the nearest full sized grocery store. This town is pretty tightly knit, everyone knows everyone kind of a situation. Police are very friendly, and respond quickly to concerns. Lots of nature and all that good stuff!

East Haddam is a wonderful place to live. School system is great, and the teachers are dedicated to the achievements of the students. We also have a great sense of community. Many nature reserves and land trusts for outdoor enthusiast.
I love living in this town. As mentioned in the survey questions is it a rural town, there are no stop lights. It is very woodsy with many hiking trails. There are about 9000 residents. You will run into someone you know in town which creates a wonderful community. I would choose to live here again after completing college. I have traveled to many countries and love my town. I would prefer the town remain a rural atmosphere as it is now, there are no big box stores, just a local pharmacy and small local grocery store, 2 banks, a handful of restaurants. The people who live in this town feel the same and I do not see this changing in future.
