I love our tight knit family feel. Most everyone knows everyone, or are related somehow! There are times situations occur that could have been handled maybe differently, but generally Dunseith was always a safe, quiet place to live. My father, mother, and both of their families grew up here, I grew up here, and now my children will grow up here. I love that my children attend the same elementary school that not only I did, but their grandparents as well! And how their teachers sometimes end up having been one of my teachers back in the day!

This beautiful tiny town is located right out the backdoor of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa-Cree Indian Reservation, which is in the middle of the top of North Dakota and also very near the geographical center of North America. The solidarity of the people in this town is reminiscent of the 1990's TV show "Northern Exposure". Native's and Non-Natives here, knowing one another life long and going back generations is common. One grocery store, one hardware store, two taverns, a restaurant and a small hamburger joint. Everybody knows your name, smiles at you, they will know all your business good and bad, but still they got your back if you hit a troubly time just the same. Dunseith as tiny as it is, has 5 Churches. So you have your choice where you wish to worship and hear the Word of God. Taking a walk through this town, you'll see nearly every house trim, nicely painted, tasteful yard decorations, each one looking it's Sunday best every day.
The good thing about Dunseith, its a small community, everyone knows everyone. Dunseith is located just 10 miles south of the Canadian border, so people here can go to Canada whenever they want.
