One of my favorite memories in Duncanville was attending the Fourth of July fireworks show at Armstrong Park. Families gathered with lawn chairs and blankets, music played, and everyone was just enjoying the moment together. I remember laughing with friends, eating snow cones, and watching the sky light up—it felt like the whole community came alive. It reminded me how special it is to grow up in a town where people genuinely come together to celebrate.

I moved to Duncanville without doing my research and regret it. There’s a lot of strip malls for businesses that are mostly empty because the businesses have left and are not coming back. There is litter everywhere and lots of rundown buildings. The crime rate is higher than anywhere I have lived before. It is not unusual to hear gunshots from my house, and hit and runs are very common in Duncanville. The service at most of the local businesses is very poor. If you can afford to live anywhere north of here you should do so.

Growing up in Duncanville, I have been fortunate enough to have friendly neighbors and, for the most part, a relatively safe environment in my neighborhood. There are a lot of restaurants and businesses nearby that are locally owned, so there is definitely a lot of opportunity in entrepreneurship. As of recently, the Duncanville Park has been remodeled and has had a grand opening! However, my biggest concern with Duncanville is the education system. The last time I had attended Duncanville high school, the staff and students were usually very ill-mannered. There were normally threats being made to the school, which made it harder to learn or enjoy being there. I ended up having to transfer out of Duncanville high school during my 10th grade year due to safety concerns and not being taken seriously whenever my family brought up these issues to the school board. In addition, I think Duncanville can benefit from adding more businesses in areas that are barren.
