I have grown up in Dumfries, Va since I was five months old, so eighteen years now. The scenery during the Fall and Spring are magnificent if you are ever driving down the hill from Swans Creek Elementary School. I appreciate how close all of the schools are to one another, especially the middle and high school. People say it is the "rift raft" part of town, but it really isn't. There are some bad people, but that is everywhere. It is hard to tell where Dumfries ends and Dale City/Woodbridge begins. The commutes are long, because they are building a lot of new grocery stores and condominiums down. It is highly safe, none the less and has tons of enjoyments for the whole family, such as; Tae Kwon Doe, running/Track, walking your dog, and etc. It is a kid friendly place where I live, they are also playing in the park, and they are expanding right on to the Potomac Shore!

I currently live in Dumfries, VA. It is a very nice area for college students who commute and/or families. It is close to the highway so traffic backs up tremendously, which is a big problem in this area. But besides that, the mall is nearby, the public schools are great, commutable colleges in the area are good, and it (and the whole DMV in general) is an up and coming area, with endless possibilities in the future. I love living here and I know Dumfries will start to populate quickly!
The town of Dumfries is located in the heart of the Northern Virginia region. There are lots of trees and great communities. Along with those attributes Dumfries has an amazing school system with perfect for our children. As that wasn't enough to lure anyone here, we have an enriched historic atmosphere all around us all along the Potomac. From George Washington to George Meade, historic presidencies and historic battles, the most prominent figures have set foot in around these lands and my town of Dumfries.
