I spent my childhood growing up in Donna and although it was not the safest I did love my time spent there. I loved my neighbors who were very kind, we would go out and play together in the back yard an be able to talk and have fun which was amazing. Though Donna was not always such a great place to live in I remember waking up in the middle of the night to gunshots running to my mothers room and waking up the next day to find out three men were shot in a drug deal gone wrong just around the corner to my home.

I grew up in this small town and it is where most of my family lives. Donna is a very small town and almost everyone knows each other. The people living in my neighborhood are friendly and they love to help one another. There are certain locations in Donna that aren't that great and lack basic amenities. However, there is also the good side of Donna.
We're a small town with a high school football obsession. I wish apartment living were in better conditions than what the city residents settle for because it honestly makes Donna look poor, and the "nice" apartments are overpriced. We live near the border in the Rio Grande Valley which is overpopulated by Hispanics struggling to make a living. Donna's city fundings are obviously not going to the city for remodeling so it'd be great to know what they're using the money for if not for fixing roads or giving the city of Donna a facelift. Recently, several school employees were convicted of child molestation (teachers were having relations with high school students) and released due to insufficient evidence, I'm concerned as to what the process is to hire certain individuals, whether the individuals themselves truly carry a degree of education and have proof of certification or if the school board actually runs any background checks to allow this to happen but still act surprised. I would not raise a family here but being raised around a better environment than the way it is now, Donna WAS okay.
