Dixon a good town to raise your family in a quiet and safe area. Not much in the area for entertainment besides a few local bars for the night life, and parks for the family time.
Dixon is a friendly town where the people take care of each other and the city. There are always fun events planned downtown and the city employees do a great job keeping up with maintenance and making the town look nice around the holidays.
As far a safety this town is a place that provides you that feeling. Unfortunately when it comes to things to do this is where the town lacks. Lots of beautiful park space that is underutilized.
Dixon is a nice town and one that I don't feel scared living in. There are lots of community programs and activities, especially in the summer. Our petunia festival is absolutely fantastic! The only downside is that there aren't many places for teens to gather and hang out at so they don't have much to do.
Not a community making investments for the future. Not family friendly. Everything is fee based, no public park district with facilities, subpar public schools, and a local taxing base that won’t vote to invest in future infrastructure. Will be a retiree region very soon.
I like Dixon because of the convenience, However, it doesn't have much for kids. You have to drive to other towns for activities. Unless you want to pay an arm and a leg.
Are town is small but the community tries to keep us busy with different town activities I wish we had more things like a movie theater, swimming pool, and or a skate park.
Dixon is a small town and has many churches. There is a river and the Petunia Festival. Some people go fishing at the river. There are several attractions but it is a small town.
Dixon is great and is close to many popular places in bigger cities. Just 15 min away there is a Starbucks and a Dunkin Donuts along with many other food and beverage locations.
Nice small town, good schools. Like living here, I have live here all of my life. If you like small towns this is the place to move and raise a family.
I like how Dixon has many convenient stores and restaurants with a small town feel. I also like how it has a very nice river front that you can relax at or do walking laps around. One thing I would like to see Dixon change is that it puts in a public pool and makes the town more family friendly in general.
I love the riverfront; it is beautiful and peaceful! I love the historic theatre and the amazing shows they bring in. The history in Dixon, from Ronald Reagan to Abe Lincoln is incredible. The town is not too small that there is nothing but still small enough to be consider a small town.
I love almost everything about Dixon, Illinois. It is the perfect sized town. It's not to big or small. In most cases, you never have to worry about children being outside or walking alone to your car. Generally, people are really friendly and often you get waves from other walkers or drivers. Everyone cares about everyone and it is a great environment.
We have a really amazing police department here that does it's best to keep the community and the people safe.
Crime is low and the police are very active in my area. When driving around town you will see 5 or so out driving around.
Everybody just basically lives their life and goes with the flow.
