When we moved to the United States we were placed in Syracuse. My family was easily integrated in the community and was able to take advantage of multiple opportunities. My mother was able to return to school and become a preschool teacher, until she later on opened her own daycare facility. When we were financially stable we moved to DeWitt and it was a dream come true. This town is a great example of the 'American Dream.' The district has the best public schools in the Country, there are multiple restaurants and store close by and yet it is a peaceful area.
The town of Dewitt is a very family friendly area with great schools. It is centrally located to many great NYS attractions, a two hour drive to the beautiful Adirondack Mountain region, 1-2 hours from many of the beautiful lakes in the Finger Lakes region and wine country. The change of seasons is beautiful, many great activities in all the seasons from apple picking in the fall to skiing in the winter or boating on the finger lakes or great lakes in the summer. This location is free from most natural disasters that can happen in other parts of the country. This is the perfect place to raise a family!
Good amount of restaurants, shops, and things to do. Erie Boulevard, in the heart of Dewitt, is full of things to do. The neighborhoods are very family friendly. The public schools are all within a small distance of each other, and the Jamesville DeWitt school district is fantastic. DeWitt is definitely safe, but there have been several crimes committed here (nothing deadly).
