Living in Desoto, TX for the past 16 years has been great! I love its quiet neighborhoods and escape from upbeat city life. One thing that I do not like is that we don't have many restaurants and dining places. This can be quickly remedied by driving about 10-15 minutes to Cedar Hill, which has many shopping and dining venues. It takes me between 5-10 minutes to reach my nearest freeway (67) and about 15 minutes to reach I-35. Besides the lack of food establishments and nightlife, Desoto is a very comfortable place for families and people who enjoy a more tame environment. And no matter which part of Desoto you live in, there is always a grocery store within 5 minutes!
I have lived in Desoto majority of my whole life. My experience has been wonderful and I am blessed to not have any severe weather mess up my house in any way. Being in elementary through high school has been a amazing time. People say that Desoto is a bad school but everybody work ethic isnt the same. They're real big on sports and the coaches showed a lot of favoritism which I had a bad experience. I played football (Safety) so I actually experience that favoritism when I was a senior that was given. Overall, I honestly wouldn't bring my kids here because their is no school spirit here.
One thing that I truly admire about the city of Desoto is the diversity. I feel as if diversity is an important factor wherever you are. I have been to multiple states and cities where diversity was not a thing so currently living in a city with diversity, means a lot to me. Of course every city has there ups and downs, but fortunately, I can count more ups than downs when it comes to Desoto. The atmosphere is enjoyable, along with the people. I can say that over the years, I have enjoyed living in Desoto and that is why I rated Desoto with such high creds.
