It's a City that was developed for
"retired people".
It's Excellent location to I-4, Daytona beach, New Smyrna beach, Flagler beach, Orlando & All the Amusement Parks, the house prices, the excellent schools system & the beautiful weather it attracted a lot of people! So bc of that, it grew very fast! Now it's population is 90,000 & like a City of that size it's changing w/ the times! By choice, the Sheriff's department is in charge of the department of safety!( DOING A VERY GOOD JOB!).
We moved here from CT. 22 yrs. Ago & r very happy to call Deltona OUR HOME!

I just moved to Deltona from nearby Sorrento about a month ago. A lot of Deltona is on the edge of sketchy/trashy. I think it's a good example of what happens to a lot of Florida: there's some beautiful land, someone thinks the area is going to take off and become part of Florida's huge tourist machine, the land is then paved over and filled with shopping centers and strip malls, and a few years or a few decades later things haven't quite taken off as expected so the shopping centers and strip malls, hastily built in the first place, become run down and trashy. Sometimes Florida feels like an ugly, existentially-confusing wasteland because of all of the blase developments. Suburban homes seem to rip right through the land. I know that progress is important but I think we can forget how deeply, spiritually important beauty is. There is some of Florida's beauty left in or near Deltona. We have both Gemini Springs and Blue Spring State Park, a huge manatee hotspot with clear waters.
I'm from a small town in Upstate New York. Deltona reminds me of exactly that. It's not overly busy but it has just enough to keep you here in the town. With the growth of new buildings and businesses coming in during 2019, Deltona will become a bigger attraction, bringing the potential for more feet to land here! Its conveniently close to nearby towns and cities that help level out what Deltona may be missing (breweries, restaurants, etc). It's a very cute little town!
