Dawsonville Reviews
Rating 4.18 out of 5 17 reviews
Dawsonville is two towns in one, obnoxiously small in one part or entirely too busy in the other. There is no concept of what entertainment is, there is an actual moonshine distillery in City Hall? but, no clubs, bars, concert halls, performance venues etc...?? There is a Pool Hall....it does not serve drinks, and has no pool tables....its a greasy burger joint showcasing Nascar items. In other words drinking is great! unless its social? The term Dissociative Identity Disorder comes to mind. A very nice area overall if being viewed through your rearview mirror.
The amount of growth has grown sustainably. The infrastructure cannot handle this. The schools are overloaded, the roads cannot be traveled on without sitting for long periods of time. There are too many stores and eating places that clogs many of the necessary stores. The northern part of the county is fine.
Dawsonville is a very close nit community with everyone helping everyone else when needed. You know your local first responders and respect them for what the do. We have a great tax base with the outlets and restaurants keeping real estate taxes low. There are a number of self contained neighborhoods in the community which allow for knowing all of your neighbors while still enjoying a rural lifestyle. Close by Alpharetta and Gainesville offer additional upscale dinning experiences along with additional shopping venues. Dawson County schools are highly rated in both educational and extracurricular value as well as providing very competitive athletic teams. Dawsonville checks a lot of boxes as a very desirable place to live.
