Davenport is diverse and welcoming. Overall I had a decent experience growing up and living in the Davenport area. Despite the reputation it is a loving community overall. There are flaws like every other town, but the community does their best to improve on things. Davenport is the perfect size and it is affordable. There are plenty of activities and things to see around town as well!

I love the diversity of Davenport! Every month there are festivals celebrating cultures and community. There are plenty of free activities for families and friends. The Mississippi river provides a beautiful backdrop to the city landscape. We moved here for this very purpose. The close proximity to Chicago and Des Moines gives us the opportunity to have a big city experience while living in a small town. Davenport has good hospitals and access to many universities. The only negative I would say is we lack an AmTrak station. Hopefully it will be coming soon.
Lived here all my life and love it. Great place to grow up. Schools were great, wonderful park system, nice people, small enough to be next to excellent hospitals, schools, groceries, and other necessities. Near Chicago for a get-away and close to Iowa City for sports, intellectual activities, etc. Good symphony and guests such as Yo Yo Ma and Joshua Bell. Events every weekend, Bix Race and Music, usually RAGBRAI, Blues Fest, etc. Downtown with lots of apartments and young people for fun activities, etc, etc, etc....
