Recently moved here from NJ with as a family with 2 young children. Can't say much about the people yet, although everyone I have conversed with so far has been kind and down to earth. Some of the other people can appear snobby, wealthy housewife types. The town is breathtakingly gorgeous with beautiful private beaches, fall foliage, and waterfront views everywhere you go. Feels like you are in a vacation house in the countryside while still having access to literally everything (5-10 min drive away). Many people seen exercising and out and about, majority professional and fit. Our Kindergartener loves her school so far and the town hall and YMCA offer every activity you can think of. Overall, loving it here so far.
Nothing really to do in Darien, but the neighboring towns are always the best, I personally love driving and the towns are so close by. Darien is also near the water which is convenient in the summer! It's also only one hour away from New York City which I love
Darien has always felt like a pretty safe town. It is competitive but schooling is excellent. Our classes are practically college level courses. We definitely experience all four seasons, but snow not so much as you would expect.
Overall I’m grateful to have grown up in this town.
