Crystal River Reviews
Rating 3.75 out of 5 16 reviews
It's one of the most scenic, beautiful places I've ever lived. Lakes, rivers, ocean, forests and wildlife. However, it's a good ole' boys town. Like going back in time a few decades, which is sort of good n' bad. There are a few friendly people here but way more not so friendly, even down right ugly n' rude. If you're wealthy you'll love it, plenty of poor uneducated people you can take advantage of, n' that's the way the richie's like it. Mostly low paying service jobs here $8-$9 an hour, if you're from here n'connected, then you can work for the city or county $10-$15 an hour. People here in paradise, as I call it, tend to have a chip on their shoulders, seem very miserable. This is due to the fact that the old money fights any new growth from happening. Thus, no new businesses, no new opportunities, not much to do but fish or hunt. Way too many tourists. 2000 population, 20,000 tourists = horrible traffic, wrecks, sirens n' noise pollution, every single day. I love it n' hate it.
It’s an okay place to live if you like boating and fishing, otherwise there aren’t many quality restaurants, shops, or much to do. Also, there isn’t a wide variety of jobs/careers around.
There are too many tourists coming into this town. We should be embracing the local culture and limit the amount of manatee and diving tour boats in the bay. These tour boats take up so much space in the bay and are always in the way of other boats. This makes the locals who have lived here their whole lives really frustrated because they can’t even take their own boat out.
