I absolutely love my town and my neighbors! I have neighbors that welcomed me in with cupcakes and are extremely friendly. The houses in my community are much more affordable than most of the communities in the area. There are a lot of great resources and stores near by, along with beautiful lakes and scenery. I wish we had more quality trails and sidewalks though. We have many great parks but they could use updating. Most of the roads are well cared for but there are some that could use some work. The schools in the area have been improving tremendously and their are more and more quality academy's popping up each year.
Crystal is a welcoming city, and has steadily become more diverse over the years. I like that they are beginning to incorporate more public transportation options as well as putting in more bike trails and bike lanes to promote alternative modes of transportation. It shows a commitment to the health of the community as well as promoting environmental sustainability. One thing I would like to see changed would be the overnight parking restrictions. While it is nice to have streets that are not overly crowded, it can be a pain when hosting visitors from out of town to find alternative places for them to park, and having strict laws of no on street overnight parking does little to discourage people from drinking and driving.
Crystal, Minnesota is a growing suburb right outside of Minneapolis. It has become a popular place the last ten years for young adults starting families. It is a family-friendly community. It is very close in proximity to many opportunities around the great Twin Cities area. Along with that, it is not too far from the Wisconsin and Iowa borders. My time here has been spent well because of the outdoor parks and shopping surrounding the area.
