Crownpoint is a small town. Most people find it peaceful and quiet. It has few buildings for schools, hospital, and grocery stores. What I like about this place is its continued effort to create a place where its community can strive to live a healthy lifestyle, gain knowledge, and provide job opportunities for students and the community. Recently, there is a new Wellness Center that is built for everyone to use. Another positive attribute of residing in this area is that the crime rate is low. There are sheriffs that patrol the area everyday to make sure of everyone's safety. However, there is a few downside to be living in this area. First, the IHS hospital does not admit non-natives. So, as a non-native, it worries me to live in a place where the nearest hospital that I can go to is about 1-2 hour away. Second, there are only a few restaurants that offers good quality of food so for someone who likes to discover new delicacies, they may find Crownpoint to be quite boring.
Crownpoint, NM is a very small town of a population of 2,600 and 7.1 sq. miles! I enjoy my stay here due to their University which is very affordable for Native Americans. Although there is only one grocery store, restaurant and two convenient gas station. It's manageable since there is a town that is a 40 minute drive called Gallup, NM that has a Wal-Mart, Mall, and so forth. I enjoy this small town because there's no traffic, less populated, and quiet. Plus the University is a double bonus since the campus provides housing, childcare, and a student union building that has a gym, snacks, weight room, and a tutor center.
Crownpoint, New Mexico is a very beautiful, open land on the Navajo reservation. I enjoy living in this area and being a part of the community as well as being involved in the college life. This town is small, but full of caring and wonderful people who care about the community and especially the youth involvement. This town could also have some change done to make it a much better place. More stores, housing areas and more land for people to conserve and graze on. I would also like to adjust the safety of animal endangerment and children safety.
