There are regrets in life, then there is Crossville. I will begin by stating I am semi retired and have traveled the country and lived in approx. 5 states. I have incorporated others' views into my own words. This is ALL FACT, no fiction or sugar coating for the sensitive sun-shiners! Plenty of drugs, more obese people than ive ever seen in my life in one small town and low ball employers who expect you to work to death for air! Obsolete nightlife with only a few bars and lots of cops on the road. Many elderly, retired ppl who are tight wallets but live in half-million dollar houses and clog the roadways driving 10mph under the speed limit. Far too many independent franchises owned by GREEDY folks who will then turn around and praise God. The hospital (YES ONLY 1!) is simply disgraceful..doesnt matter if "nice" people work there or not, its about overall care, billing, fallow up and local resource options. Great place if you want to live off of subsidies and be lazy!
Moving to this area from Florida was primarily to be close to my wife’s family and play golf. I have found the town and native population of Crossville to be pleasant and quite friendly. Crossville is lacking severely in medical care infrastructure with backward thinking providers lagging behind anywhere I have ever lived. The area also lacks enough name brand and big box retailers to sustain the population thus many shop and seek medical care in larger towns and hour to two hours away. Other than where I live in Fairfield Glade there is not much to sustain growth here. It would do a lot for for the area if Crossville could get at least a small college or university but so far I have no local interest in doing so by those who in a position to seek any.
If you like small, this is the place for you. But small can be bad. The schools here aren't the greatest and some places even make me feel uneasy. The dress code at the schools is awful and serves no purpose but to body shame and highly discriminating. The schools aren't diverse and to me, that means they don't have the full potential to thrive. The mall here is small and has bad shops. There aren't many things to do here as well.
