Remember the Alamo! San Antonio itself is home to clubs, nationally recognized restaurants, the famous River Walk, and other attractions. Downtown San Antonio is filled with tourists who appreciate our Hispanic culture and cuisines. Speaking of which, Fiesta is solely a San Antonio event that brings in hoards of tourists from around the world to drink, dance, and eat during several nights in the month of April. Closer to where I live, however, is more of a German influence and attracts the crowds who are drawn to the beautiful Texas Hill Country. We engage the community in fishing, hunting, swimming, and other nature-oriented activities.

Within 15 miles of my home, there are seven gyms to choose from, ranging from affordable to expensive. My community, within the last year, has become increasingly active and I've noticed more and more residents utilizing our neighborhood track and field. It's not uncommon at all to see crowds of bicyclists Saturday and Sunday mornings, or runners gliding through the country roads and state park trails. Our farmers market community also promotes health and fitness by selling organic produce to local residents and has even gone portable in the form of farmers markets on wheels! I definitely support physical activity and have convinced my family to engage in a healthy lifestyle as well. Together, the six of us have lost 250 pounds by exercising and eating a wholesome diet. I run five to ten miles a day and strength train, while my parents use the gym and my siblings are in sports.

As far as convenience of hospital facilities, emergency medical services are readily available at any time. We have a med-clinic open 24 hours a day that is one mile down the road, five miles into Boerne is a Methodist Hospital, and eight miles eastbound on I-10 is an entire medical district.
It's triple-digit hot here in San Antonio, which makes outdoors in the summertime somewhat uncomfortable. Spring is beautiful, as is autumn. These are the ideal months to live here. Summer and winter are unpredictable and are sometimes unexpectedly warm or freezing! There are rarely natural disasters here, the most frequent being wildfires that are easily controlled. Everyone in Texas owns several pairs of shorts, tank tops and flip flops for the summer, and for the winter, sweat pants, jeans and jackets!
