My hometown, but unfortunately drugs have become a devastating problem in this area. I wish to see the drug problem handled and Craigsville becoming the great little town that it used to be.
For the most part, crime is low. Violent crime is almost nonexistent. The large problem in my area, as well as a lot of the state is drug abuse. There are a lot of people in poor situation that have turned to drugs and it results in a poor local economy. Most crime in the area is theft or other nonviolent activities.
The local economy is suffering lately, which has resulted in a loss of jobs. A lot of displaced workers are causing a burden on the public welfare system. Loosing the states primary industry has resulted in a loss of millions of dollars on the local and state level which has begun to affect infrastructure and willingness of prospective business to locate into the area. Overall the area is beautiful and there are many outdoor activities to be enjoyed. White water rafting is one of the larger recreations, along with lake activities, hiking, camping, backpacking, and other wilderness activities.
I love gino's pizza and spaghetti, it has the best workers and food around!
