I was born in Cottage Grove and at the age of 17 I could not wait to leave, so I joined the Navy. Cottage Grove is an amazing place that I moved back to five years ago. If you like the outdoors and the beauty of nature, Cottage Grove has it all...rivers, lakes, mountains, trees, animals, and it has been named the Covered Bridge Capital. From the center of "Old Town" (downtown), you can see the wonderful view and get to any of these places in no more than 20 minutes. It has grown quite a bit from when I was a youth, but it still has a small-town feel to it. There is also an amazing theatre that puts on plays and musical events throughout the year and a week-long downtown celebration during the summer called "Bohemia Mining Days" (named for the Bohemia Mountain Mines East of town) with carnival rides and amazing crafts and events. It is truly a wonderful place!
If I could change anything about Cottage Grove, it would be to bring more things for the youth to do.

Grew up here in between Cottage Grove and Creswell, the community is tight knit and a wonderful place to sit and relax. Wonderful history and shops to find!
Cottage Grove is an unremarkable town with remarkable pleasantness. Neither small nor large, friendly nor cold, classic nor extravagant, Cottage Grove houses about 10,000 agreeable residents in its average-looking streets. Beyond this, Cottage Grove and the surrounding South Willamette Valley are home to stunning natural sights: two lakes, a river, a bike path, famous covered bridges, and numerous forests, creeks, and hills. In Cottage Grove, look beyond the facade of normalness and have the time of your life.
