I love that Cottage Grove is a lot like my home town, but with the benefit of a big city just a few minutes away. It makes me feel safe and connected!
Cottage Grove is a quiet town with beautiful scenery of small ponds, many trees and friendly people. This town has a couple local bars and restaurants that serve delicious food as well as an ice cream shop and occasional live music.
There are many local businesses near me, most of which are big companies. However, the mom-and-pop stores that we do have are wonderful. Not to say the bigger companies are not nice, but, when you have a business in the area that was started by a local family the businesses become more personal to the town. They remember who you are, they are more friendly, they appreciate you more as a customer and they make you want to return. Your typical department store is cold with forced hellos and impersonal interaction. In my town our mom-and-pop shops are primarily in the food industry though we do have other businesses as well. We have a pizza and ice cream parlor that has participated with the local high school for events and is very popular in town. There is also many local bars, automotive shops, and a thriving child care and early education facility that has a 5 star rating. My son currently attends.
