Like any other place, crime does happen. Generally, however, I feel that Aberdeen/surrounding area has been a very safe place to live and grow up. I have not had any personal experience with crime (seen, been a victim, participated, etc.) but just to be honest these are the things I have heard of: availability/production of drugs, student fights, animal abuse/neglect, underage drinking, dui, some others. I think these things probably occur everywhere, and involvement depends on the susceptibility of the person. Our law enforcement I feel does a very thorough job. My school has a campus police officer, and the local authorities and our school administration are active in reducing crime (drug dog investigations at school; advertisement campaigns against underage drinking, drinking and driving, drug use, etc). Just to be thorough, I would advise general safety habits and good self awareness. Overall, great place to live, genuinely nice people.

I have loved living here and growing up here! I will probably move away, at least for a while for school, but I would definitely consider living here again, as an adult with my own family. I think that the area will only continue to improve, and that it will always be a nice family place to live.
