There are a few crime incidents upon occasion, but for the most part there is a strong sense of community, and it is a generally safe area. There is a lot of protected forest, so there are always new nature and hiking areas to explore. This brings a lot of tourism to this area, which is both good and bad, bringing business but also litter and crowds. Compared to other places in the country, it's average. It could be better, it could be worse. I believe that as time goes on, more land will be destroyed to build things no one needs, as has been going on the past few years with increasing severity, but that's not really within our means to stop.

I have lived there for about 10 years, and there was always a community family event happening. Everyone there are very welcoming and generally happy. The business in the area are almost all mom and pop shops showing how community ran this community really is.
The local police station is next to the high school, halfway between the two major towns of the area. They can be seen driving around, and they do enforce the law to the best of their ability. About once a year there is some major crime that causes the schools to close, or creates tension in the community. Beyond that, there isn't much crime that I have noticed. I wouldn't walk around any major areas alone at night, but many people do and nothing really comes of it. I feel it is a relatively safe area to be in.
