If you're the type to look down on others for meaningless reasons then Clifton is not for you. It's an unpretentious, working class small town type of place.

I grew up on the Clifton Heights/Westbrook Park border until my family moved out in the 2000s, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Real community with neighbors who would do anything for each other.

Things have definitely changed since I lived there. Clifton was a 90% white Republican union town when I was growing up and had no real commercial vacancies and few abandoned homes. But there's still great people of all races and real community pride. The only trash are scummy Section 8 landlords and those who abuse Section 8 or buy or sell drugs.

Move to Clifton and support the great small businesses and community events. Maybe I'll see you at the Rosati's window some night or on the 4th of July.

I'm glad to see many reviewers love Clifton. I'd be glad to have called you my neighbor back in the day.

There are always very friendly and welcoming neighbors, and kindness all around. People are always kind and have made me feel comfortable at all times. I never have to worry about being unsafe or scared. My parents and whole family appreciate the neighborhood and are glad they made the decision they did to move here when we did. Moving anywhere at a young age is hard, but the neighborhood has never made me not like it. There is also a lot of kids and pets around the neighborhood which is also a great aspect of the city. I have lived here for 6 years now, and my parents are planning on staying even longer after I go away to college. The school district is also amazing.
The Westbrook Park section of Clifton Heights is a great old-time neighborhood with kids out playing and folks walking dogs. Stores, schools, churches, and bus stop are in walking distance. It's a short drive to the train station and major highways. The city meets the suburbs in this quaint and comfortable place that time has forgotten. Halloween is an event, with neighbors in costume calling greetings and giving out candy from their front porches. Walk to fireworks on July 4th. We love it here!
