I just moved here from the Bay Area, and what a culture shock. Sadly, the first man I met screamed in my face and tried to get all big and macho at me for asking him a question. The women are either hard druggies without teeth or "karens," with pursed lips and ugly hairsyles - all blonde, and half-naked too. Every time I smile at someone, they turn their head rudely. Every time I ask a polite question, I'm met with sarcasm. These are the rudest people I've ever seen. I feel like I'm a very "hard," non-charming Alabama, where people are a combination of trashy and anal if that makes sense. Poor manners meets extremely judgmental. I like my house and the lake is pretty enough. It's very hot, though, not like the wonderful Bay that I miss. I miss the diversity and friendly faces, especially. My first day, the mail lady already wanted to gossip about someone I didn't even know and seemed to want to pick a fight. Weird, nasty people here. Loud trucks. Probably all Trumpers. Ughhh.
Clearlake is my hometown and I can say this place can be for a few people. A couple things that I like about this place city is the sky is not polluted so you can see the stars and has very fresh air. I also like how there are no loud noises, like car horns or trains. Next, I also like that there is a sense of community here and we know almost everyone that lived or lives in this small city. However, since Clearlake is very rural there are barely any resources to help people. From what I have seen there are barely any hobbies or activities that the city can offer.
We have lived in Clearlake for 5 years now. Prior to that we lived in Santa Rosa for over 30 years. Moving here was a culture shock. But we have learned to really like it here. You hear about the crime rate being high. One night my husband accidently left the back of his truck open ...he had a bunch of tools and an expensive $300 metal detector in the back. We live on one of the main streets. In the morning I noticed his trunk open...I could NOT believe that everything was still in the back of his truck! WOW! I enjoy the natural beauty and slow pace. A lot of nice people too.
