Clark Township Reviews
Rating 3.76 out of 5 33 reviews
Clark is an overall safe suburb and family area. The public elementary-through-high schools are moderately good with a variety of courses. Though, the actual facilities can be underfunded as well as the teachers being unqualified or underpaid. The actual amount of bullying, at least in my year, is really not bad. The same goes for drug and underage drinking. There is a lack of things to do here, can get boring. It's a decent place to live, unless you're a minority. Non-white, non-straight, and non-cisgender people are clearly treated differently. Our governmental institutions are outright and admittedly racist. Everyday in high school I hear slurs, and the school's GSA club is mocked. Once more, it's a fine little suburb overall. It's safe for families, the Recreation Center and Public Library are fantastic resources for children and the community, and the overall education can be great (depending on the teachers). It's truly just the social climate that detracts from the experience.
Many slam Clark for its lack of diversity; I lived in Clark and noted that like my family, most of its townspeople were first, second or third generation Europeans; Italians, Jews, Germans and Polish folks. No one is keeping people of color out of Clark, but the cost of housing. It's unfair to earmark Clark as biased or prejudice. The teachers and people have always been liberal. It's wonderful and safe town and a great place to raise kids.
Clark is a very safe and tight knit community in the sprawling New York Metropolitan Area. There are many cities in the metropolitan area where pollution, crime, and schools are bad but Clark is the opposite. It is a nice quiet suburb where neighbors are nice to everyone. Of course that no town in America is perfect and in Clark there is a lack of a downtown area and not a lot of sprawling development excluding home development. Surprising to hear but in New Jersey the roads are not bad at all as there are only a couple of streets where the streets are full of potholes. In the nighttime and the morning there are people jogging or walking their dogs and just makes you feel nice and comfortable.
