There’s something about a small town that no matter how much you dream of escaping it, you can’t help but think of what you’d miss. I’d miss the small businesses. The local cafe where they know my name and the local breakfast joint where my favorite waitress doesn’t need to ask my order. I’d miss Autumn Leaf Festival, a week long affair that has Main Street packed with carnival favorites, crafters and vendors and all the faces you hadn’t seen in years, because of course they came home for ALF. There’s definitely a charm. But often small towns breed small minds and Clarion is no exception unfortunately. Clarion will have a piece of me always. It’s where I lived on my own for the first time, and had my first job. It’s where I went to college, where I met lifelong friends- but if you’re looking to surround yourself with progressive, open-minded individuals then don’t come here.
I initially moved to Clarion for college and immediately fell in love with the town. While emerging as a "college town" complete with amenities like Starbucks, it has managed to keep it's small town feel with it's close-knit family community, small inviting churches, and Main Street shopping district full of "Mom and Pop" shops. My fiance and I eventually chose to return to Clarion to settle down and start a family. With the low crime rate, good schools and family-friendly environment, it was a no-brainer. Clarion is our home.
What I like about Clarion, PA is it's small town feeling town. Everyone who lives here is amazing and respectful. The college here is out of this world awesome! If any student is looking for a big college atmosphere, but a small class size I would totally recommend Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
